Our latest recruit, Carrie, is an Exercise Physiologist, who for the past couple of years has been a key part of NZ’s quickly evolving movement of using exercise to manage chronic diseases. Carrie has been actively establishing pathways for care inside the “Exercise is Medicine” Waikato committee where she is a member.
Prior to specialised exercise prescription, Carrie worked as a personal trainer for more than 10 years. Carrie has a PGDip in Sport & Exercise Science majoring in Clinical Exercise Physiology and Advanced Rehabilitation Methods.
She is a highly motivated, dynamic practitioner who is passionate about transforming people’s lives through the benefits of using exercise for different situations.
In her youth Carrie competed as a national level gymnast and has coached competitive boy’s gymnastics in Hamilton, training alongside International representatives. She also competes as a Masters athlete for CrossFit Waikato.
Carrie’s areas of interest are rehabilitation and recovery from neurological conditions as well as sport performance, which is supported by Continual Professional Development courses in the area of Kinetics.
She assists Advance clients in achieving their fitness goals and prescribes exercise for those recovering from illness or injury. Carries also works with people to improve their general health following medical conditions that are deemed ‘high risk’. She also takes a number of the popular Advance fitness classes. Outside of work Carrie tries to fit into the mind of her 5 year old son and keep up with his imagination. Together they do life.» View details
Christian has more than 10 years’experience in the PT industry. Christian has a passion in helping people achieve their goals and bringing awareness that
physical training has a greater purpose.
Trained in New Zealand, Christian completed his Personal Training course at the Institute of Health and Fitness.
He believes in continuously expanding his knowledge by consulting with mentors from various disciplines, while also working alongside physiotherapists.
His Specialties include movement and restoration training using original strength training systems; kettlebell, bodyweight, OOV and barbell training. » View details
Judy graduated from Beijing University of Chinese Medicine in 2006 with a bachelor degree of Acupuncture, Moxibustion and Massage. Originally from China, she moved to NZ in 2016 with her husband and two children. Before that, she already had more than 10 years clinical experience and practiced in South Africa for 9 years.

Kate is enthusiastic about seeing people get back to doing what they love and reaching their goals.
Kate has been through her own acute and chronic injuries and as a podiatrist she knows how important all-inclusive holistic healthcare is to anyone’s quality of life. She focuses on treating the whole body, so you get better and stay better with gait analysis and retraining, biomechanical assessment, pressure distribution therapy and muscle drill conditioning.
Kate is also a Running Coach and takes regular running workshops to help those who are just starting out through to those that want to improve their technique and learn how to reduce risk of injury while running.» View details
Melissa has come from a strong sporting background. It was receiving many injuries from various sports, and witnessing the recovery she had from physiotherapy, that lead her into the role she’s in today.
Melissa completed her Bachelor of Physiotherapy with Honours and has recently relocated to Hamilton to start her Physiotherapy career. She is living out her dream of being able to help people achieve their goals through Physiotherapy, as she was once helped. » View details
Phyllis was a registered Chinese Physician with the Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners Board under the purview of the Ministry of Health, Singapore. In 2015, she came to New Zealand to study Midwifery and also acquired her acupuncture membership with The New Zealand Register of Acupuncturists (NZRA).

Rachael is one of our fantastic Senior Therapists and has worked in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy ever since she graduated from AUT in 2011.
She has worked with rugby teams, in post-operative orthopaedic and cardio-respiratory settings and in private clinics both here in New Zealand and the UK.
Rachael is passionate about what she does and loves nothing more than to see her clients achieve their full potential and beyond. She enjoys the challenge of figuring out why someone has injured themselves and correcting these imbalances to ensure the injury does not reoccur. She uses a combination of good education, hands on techniques, exercise prescription and is also skilled in dry needling.
Rachael is a health and fitness fanatic herself, spending any spare time at the gym or running the Hakiramata’s and she also enjoys travelling.

Stephen has special interest in treating back injuries and bio-mechanics – the way the body moves. His highlight in physiotherapy is seeing a client walk out functioning better than when they came in. Originally from the Bay of Plenty Tony has spent 10 years studying and working in Hamilton.
A background of playing and coaching various sports has lead Tony into a diverse healthcare journey, with over 20 years experience in sports massage and yoga teaching and now physiotherapy.
Tony combines exercise prescription and manual therapy to address his clients’ needs. He believes learning keeps us stimulated and alive and brings this approach into improving physical function.
While his sporting days are largely over, he is still a keen follower of NZ sports people and teams. He enjoys staying active at the gym, yoga studio and great outdoors and is a slightly addicted record collector.» View details
