Hi my name is Joe O'Brien. I am from Galway city on the west coast of Ireland.
From a young age I've been heavily involved in various sports which have massively impacted my life.
At the age of 16 I was playing international football and signed professional for Celtic FC. Moving away from home at such a young age thought me vital life skills including communication, team work and leadership.
Due to unfortunate injuries during my time at the club I spent a vast amount of my time in the treatment room. This is when I discovered my interest in physiotherapy. At this stage I decided to transfer my on the pitch determination to the books. I returned to Ireland and completed my schooling which enabled me to study my dream course Physiotherapy in Scotland at Glasgow Caledonian University.
Keen to constantly learn, Outside of university I completed a diploma in Sports Nutrition, Sports massage and Sports first aid. Throughout my 4 years of studying in Scotland I continued to play semi-professional football. Due to my back round I have a special interest in sport injuries and MSK practice. Having been on the other side of the treatment table I can easily relate to patients that come through the door with frustrations and different pressures. I utilize my communication and teamwork skills with all patients to help them acheive their personal goals.
Coming to New Zealand was a new personal challenge and great opportunity for me. I'm a very open minded individual who likes new challenges both mentally and physically.
I constantly strive to ensure the client receives the best care possible. In my spare time I enjoy all outdoor activities and meeting new people. Im am a friendly and extremely approachable individual, so if you do have any concern while receiving treatment I am very open to taking time out and keep you informed every step of the way.View details »
