Ms Shannon Gearey

Physiotherapist;

Shannon graduated from University of Auckland with a Masters of Physiotherapy Practice. In her final year of research, she completed a thesis exploring patient experiences following ACL reconstruction, receiving the SEPNZ award for the best study in Sport and Exercise Physiotherapy. Shannon has a special interest in women’s health, post-operative rehabilitation, and musculoskeletal and sporting injuries, catering to competitive athletes as well as eager weekend warriors. Outside of the clinic, Shannon is a keen track athlete. With over a decade of experience as a 400m sprinter and a recent transition to hurdles, Shannon has medalled nationally and internationally and represented New Zealand at the IAAF Track and Field World Youth Championships. Her background in high-performance sport has built her extensive knowledge in strength and conditioning and efficient biomechanics to reduce the risk of injury. Taking a holistic approach to care, Shannon considers all aspects of her patient’s lifestyle to create a rehabilitation program which is individualised, effective, and achievable.
