Physiotherapist

Trained in Otago. Worked initially in NZ then travelled to UK, worked at Kings College Hospital Outpatients, as Senior then Superintendent Physio with under and graduate staff as tutor, mentor and physiotherapist. Returned to NZ to Hamilton, set up private practice while becoming involved with NZMPA as a clinical tutor, teacher, examiner and then administrator. Decided further study was required, so enrolled in MBA programme-- Waikato , while doing locums for colleagues. A chance phone call found myself relocating to Mt Gambier, South Australia to work with Carter Holt Harvey as Occupational Physiotherapist and becoming encyclopedic re timber processing and mills. A few years of further rehabilitation consulting led to a variety of roles, including being the Occupational Physiotherapist for Yalumba wines – which included buying privileges. !!! A few years later, with change on the menu, found myself in Townsville, Northern Queensland as the Senior Physiotherapist for a new multi-disciplinary clinic which had graduate and undergraduate teaching, including being the problem solver for spinal tertiary referrals. 2017 returned to NZ to a role as manager TBIHealth Invercargill as a set up role, then to Christchurch, which included setting up off site clinics. Part of that role was working on West coast one day a week, then it grew and I relocated to be 5 days per week, and a thriving med fees plus pain management clinic was built up. Twelve hours days are tough in the long term, and change was needed, intended to be a goffer for a few months, but after one week found myself working with Proactive- Timaru /Ashburton to service Vocational clients and develop a med fees service. Am as enthusiastic about Physiotherapy as ever, and just love the tricky spinal issues and teaching. View details »
