Mya graduated from the Auckland University of Technology (AUT) in 2023 with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy. Her diverse placements reinforced the importance of patient’s health literacy, whereby educating the patient effectively about their diagnosis, treatment and support options is a core focus of Mya’s. Mya’s experience competing at a high-performance level in triathlons, swimming and athletics, is one of the main contributing factors for choosing physiotherapy as a career, but Mya also has a passion for helping people return to activities they love to do and remain active. Lizzie grew up in the far north. Her main childhood passion was dance and she went on to train to a pre-professional level in Classical Ballet at the NZ School of Dance in Wellington. Later, she moved to Auckland to study Physiotherapy and worked in two busy musculoskeletal clinics. Lizzie believes that both manual therapies and exercise-based rehabilitation are as important as one another on the road to recovery. Lizzie has a special interest in post-operative rehabilitation, and pilates-based strengthening plays a big part in her rehab plans. Surgery is just the first step in the rehab program; Lizzie is passionate about getting her patients back to their baseline level of function and taking the strengthening one step further to reduce the likelihood of injury recurrence. In her spare time, Lizzie enjoys reformer pilates, ballroom and Latin dance classes and she is trying hard to learn Spanish. She moved to Christchurch in 2023 and hopes to make the most of living near the beach by learning to surf! View details »
