Hailing from Cape Town, South Africa, Shamiko is a fresh-faced physio with a passion for
life, people, health and fitness. When it came to choosing the path of being a
physiotherapist, she is inclined to believe that physiotherapy “chose to be part of [her] path”.
Her journey started in 2019 at the University of Cape Town, working with a variety of
conditions in hospitals, rehab facilities, special needs schools, and assisting at marathons,
finally graduating in 2022 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physiotherapy. She
continued her journey in a rural setting in the Eastern Cape for a year where she learnt
invaluable skills of adaptability, and back to the urban town of Knysna for honing her skills in
private practice. Fate would have it that Westport, New Zealand was the next stop, where
she continues to live out her unquenchable desire to help others and surround herself with
