Mrs Sarah Waldin

Mrs Sarah Waldin

Registered Hand Therapist, Physiotherapist and Director;

Sarah graduated as a Physiotherapist from Auckland University of Technology in 1994. She developed a special interest in treating hand injuries and burns while working in her first job at Middlemore Hospital. In 1997, in partnership with Julie Rouse, Sarah established Handworks, in recognition of the need for a high-quality Hand Therapy service to the Central Auckland area. Providing a service that works closely with Hand Surgeons is a top priority for Sarah, to ensure best patient outcomes at all times. Sarah genuinely enjoys treating a vast array of patients, especially complex multi trauma, occupational overuse and sporting injuries. She divides her time between treating patients, teaching and supervising therapists in complex cases, and practice management. Sarah has an ongoing involvement with lecturing at AUT on the Masters programme in Hand and Upper Limb, and teaches Emergency Care Nurse Specialists in their training programme. She is a Past President of Hand Therapy NZ and continues to be involved in the wider community education around hand rehabilitation. Sarah is also a passionate supporter of the Leprosy Mission NZ, having travelled to India in 2013 to spend time in several of their hospitals. The aim of this trip was to understand better how the Leprosy Mission medical staff are successfully managing hand tendon transfer surgery and rehabilitation. Sarah is a wife and mother of three and  enjoys family holidays and lots of sports including running, skiing, and tennis. View details »
