Mr Harlan Hung

Physiotherapist;

In 2017, Harlan graduated from AUT with a Bachelor in Health Science (BHSc) in Physiotherapy. He started his first job in a fast-paced medical centre in East Tamaki. His clientele primarily presented with acute and chronic injuries, postpartum back pain, post-surgical rehabilitation, arthritis, and vertigo, etc. In the meantime, he managed side-line physiotherapy for three other sport teams. Having exposure to many recurrent injuries, Harlan decided to dive deeper into the rabbit hole. He became certified as a Neurokinetic Therapy (NKT) practitioner, which is a skill that involves multi-dimensional assessment of patients’ bio-mechanic. That allows him to identify the deeper cause of an ongoing dysfunction. For instance, treating an old C-section scar to relieve chronic back pain. Over the past three years in the medical centre, Harlan has incorporated dry needling, active release technique, manipulation, cupping, scraping, shockwave therapy and exercise-based rehabilitation into his approach. He acknowledged the dynamic nature of medicine and has always been open-minded to expand his paradigm. His philosophy emphasizes patients’ functional autonomy and physical freedom. He is a strong believer in exercise-based rehabilitation, as quoted in the Long Walk to Freedom by Nelson Mandela, “Exercise is a key not only to physical health but to peace of mind.” Outside of work, Jacky enjoys dancing, martial art, traveling, photography and reading.
