Michele is a South African with a love for physiotherapy and working in Aotearoa. Growing up in competitive sports such as gymnastics, springboard diving and ballet influenced Michele’s love and understanding of movement and her own personal rehabilitation from multiple sports injuries gives her understanding from a patient’s perspective. She believes in not only treating the injury but also preventing reinjury or future injuries. She takes a combined approach of hand-on techniques for pain management as well as education and exercise therapy to aid in total recovery. In addition, Michele also offers respiratory physiotherapy services to help improve breathing and lung function for a wide variety of respiratory conditions in both paediatrics and adults. She also facilitates group exercises classes in Ashburton. Outside of work, Michele enjoys snowboarding, painting, dancing and exploring the South Island in her campervan with her dog. View details »
After 17 years of practice, Phillippa has developed an in depth knowledge of how injuries affect people’s everyday lives, and how effective treatment get them back to doing the things they love to do.
She has a strong focus on hands on treatment and looking at the effects of injury on the whole limb. This allows a more functional approach to rehabilitation, and a more fluid progression back to activity.
Phillippa began her career in rural north island where she successfully treated a wide variety of musculoskeletal injuries. From here she moved to Christchurch where she developed a special interest in headaches and migraines.
In 2016 she went over to Australia to train with Dean Watson, where she was taught the Watson Headache Approach to treatment of headaches and migraines. She was impressed by the ability of this approach to specifically isolate the cervical spine segments involved in headaches, and the ability of the techniques to target the cause of the headaches. Phillippa has spent over 3500 hours exclusively treating headache/migraine patients and has developed exceptional skills at both assessment and diagnosis of cervical relevancy to headaches and migraines.
