Ms Shantal Edwards

Ms Shantal Edwards

Physiotherapist;

Shantal is a Physiotherapist, she graduated from the University of Witwatersrand (Johannesburg South Africa) in 1999. Shantal brings a wealth of experience, having worked as an outpatient physiotherapist treating work-related injuries, sports injuries, spinal pain, headaches and other musculoskeletal conditions. She has worked as a team physiotherapist for club rugby teams in SA, and even got to represent South Africa as a physiotherapist at the first ever Youth Olympic Games (Singapore 2010), All Africa Games (Mozambique 2011), Paralympic Games (London 2012), 2nd Youth Olympic Games – as Chief physio no less! (Nanjing 2014). She has worked with top athletes that represent many codes: mountain – biking, road cycling, volleyball, rowing, swimming & running to name a few, but fondly remembers the hard work a chess team can be! Shantal plays volleyball (even getting to represent South Africa many moons ago) and understands that being able to participate and keep active brings us joy and accomplishment. You don’t have to be an elite athlete – injury can stop you from working in your garden, or being able to walk your kids to school or get to work in the mornings. She uses a combination of hands on therapy, education and advice and exercises to get you back to normal life, and even will coach you on how to manage your own well-being through nutrition, sleep and mindfulness. Shantal has a special interest in managing pain, wellness and return to activity. She is okay at crocheting & scrapbooking but is not a great gardener – but maybe that can change with the lovely rainfall in New Zealand. She can’t wait to meet you! View details »
